The Mississippi Technology Alliance’s 5th Annual Mississippi New Venture Challenge gave the opportunity for 32 innovative companies in three different divisions to present their business plans to panels of judges that included some of Mississippi’s top entrepreneurs and investors. Winners in each category vied for cash prizes and in-kind services. Bradley Arant Boult Cummings was one of the sponsors of the Challenge, along with the Mississippi Development Authority and other firms. Jackson office partner, David Pharr, and Birmingham office partner, Joe Bird, served as judges for the event.

Mr. Pharr said, “In its fifth year, this competition is now well-established. The businesses in the commercial category are already attractive to investors and the student competitors are impressive. Our universities are focused on developing entrepreneurial talent on campus and the New Venture Challenge has become a place for them to demonstrate progress to the larger business community. The firm is proud to be a part of this event and the overall effort to grow a supportive environment for new businesses in Mississippi."
