Summary
Join the Litigation Team of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP for a one-hour presentation focusing on ethical issues faced by in-house counsel. In-house counsel often face ethical considerations and pressures that are not faced by outside counsel. This presentation will highlight some of situations that in-house counsel may find themselves in and offer practical advice on handling the ethical issues that arise from those situations. This course is pending approval by the Alabama State Bar for one hour of ethics CLE credit.

Judge John Carroll
Judge John Carroll is Dean and Ethel P. Malugen Professor of Law at the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama where he teaches Federal Courts, Complex Litigation, Mediation, Evidence, Trial Practice and an on-line course in E-Discovery and Evidence. Judge Carroll served as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Middle District of Alabama for over 14 years. He is a former member of the United States Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and is former chair of its Discovery Subcommittee. He was also the chair of the Magistrate Judges’ Education Committee of the Federal Judicial Center. Judge Carroll is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Inns of Court, and a member of the Boards of Directors of the American Judicature Society, the Sedona Conference and the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation He is a Fellow of both the American and Alabama Bar Associations, an Academic Fellow of the International Society of Barristers and is an elected member of the American Law Institute.

David Hymer
David Hymer has served as the lead trial lawyer in more than a dozen jury trials, as well as more than two dozen bench trials and arbitration hearings. His trials include the representation of a variety of corporate clients in a number of high stakes, multi-million dollar lawsuits. He served as lead counsel for HealthSouth in its civil suit against the company’s CEO and founder Richard Scrushy that resulted in a $2.8 billion judgment in favor of the company. He also has obtained favorable verdicts in cases involving construction defects, retail price fixing, environmental contamination, and personal injury claims. One of his trials was recognized by the National Law Journal as one of the Top Defense Verdicts of the year. Mr. Hymer is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Alabama Super Lawyers, and as a Litigation Star in Benchmark Litigation.
