Independent Contractors or Employees: Avoiding Costly Myths/Mistakes

It is critical for businesses to avoid running afoul of the law when classifying workers as independent contractors rather than employees. • Dispel emerging popular myths about ways to avoid certain mandates of the Affordable Care Act through improper changes in employment related classifications.
• Discuss actual situations where companies have either paid or avoided stiff penalties and fines for improper classifications of their workers.
• Provide compelling reasons why the old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” benefits companies who adhere to proper guidelines, and helps them to maintain and improve their cash flow.
