Bradley partner and Life Sciences Litigation Chair Tripp Haston will participate in a roundtable presentation by counsel from the US, UK and France on the current status, challenges and future trends concerning remote court hearings and trials. The event is sponsored by the International Association of Defense Counsel, for which Mr. Haston previously served as President, and co-sponsored by the Paris Bar Association and the British Institute for International & Comparative Law.
Mr. Haston represents a broad spectrum of clients on regional, national and international engagements. He has been recognized in numerous leading attorney directories including The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation, and The International Who’s Who of Product Liability Defence Lawyers. His experience has involved matters throughout the United States, Europe, South America and Asia. Mr. Tripp is also active in service to numerous legal organizations. He is the past President and current Asian Membership Envoy for the International Association of Defense Counsel and has served on the boards of DRI and Lawyers for Civil Justice.
Event Details
The objective of this webinar is to present and discuss the resort to remote court hearings during the current crisis. Examining the position in 3 different jurisdictions, the UK, France and the US, leading practitioners as well as members of the judiciary who have been involved in such hearings will discuss the use of technology and online platforms in order to maintain hearings during the Covid-19 pandemic. Issues will be examined from a comparative perspective, including the type of cases covered by such hearings, the choice of technology / platform, public access to hearing, evidential issues (cross-examination; documentary evidence; tracing / authenticity) and impact on advocacy.
