This session will provide the basic framework for several consumer protection statutes as they relate to and conflict with the Bankruptcy Code, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Truth in Lending Act. The session then will examine recent regulatory and case law developments involving the intersection of consumer protection statutes and bankruptcy and dive into a discussion of class actions and arbitration in the bankruptcy arena.
