This session will cover the key aspects of the Supreme Court’s opinion in Taggart v. Lorenzen regarding civil contempt for violations of the discharge injunction, as well as subsequent court opinions interpreting and applying Taggart. The session also will provide guidance on ways creditors may minimize the risk of violating the discharge order in their communications with debtors and will run through a set of hypotheticals to explore the contours of the Taggart opinion.
