Two Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Attorneys Appointed to DRI Committees
Two Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP attorneys, Scott Burnett Smith and Hope T. Cannon, have both been appointed to the Defense Research Institute Committee.
Scott B. Smith, an appellate partner in the Huntsville office, has been selected to serve as Vice Chair of the Defense Research Institute’s Amicus Committee. The DRI’s Amicus Committee serves as the voice of the defense bar in the United States Supreme Court and other appellate courts at the federal and state level. This committee is made up of six appellate lawyers and one trial lawyer selected from across the country. It is responsible for helping the DRI decide what appellate cases raise important issues affecting civil defense lawyers nationwide. In this way, they help ensure that DRI's voice is heard on important defense-related issues.
Hope T. Cannon, a litigation partner in the Birmingham office, has been selected to serve on the Women in the Courtroom Committee. The DRI’s Women in the Courtroom Committee serves as a source of support and guidance for female attorneys while encouraging the continuance of legal diversity. For the last three years, this committee has provided programs on women in the law to state and local defense organizations, national seminars and individual law firms.
Cary Hiltgen, President of the DRI, said “the work of the Special and Board Standing Committees is vital to the continued growth of DRI.”
