Dottie Pak Quoted in Birmingham Business Journal

Dottie Pak, partner in the Birmingham office, was quoted in an article in the Birmingham Business Journal regarding Alabama’s legal environment, once known as “Tort Hell.” A recent study conducted by Harris Interactive, “The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Lawsuit Climate 2010: Ranking the States,” ranked Alabama’s legal climate for business at 47th in the nation. However, local attorneys believe these rankings are a result of Alabama’s past legal environment. Dottie, who has had extensive experience with foreign companies through BABC’s economic development group, cites “the state’s incentive packages, the lack of the union issues that are present in other states, and the state’s economic development organizations” as key determinants in luring new businesses to Alabama.
