United States Supreme Court Releases Decision in McDonald v. City of Chicago
On June 28, 2010, the United States Supreme Court released its much-anticipated decision in McDonald v. City of Chicago, ruling 5-4 that the right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is applicable to the States. Marc James Ayers, a partner in Bradley Arant’s Appellate Litigation Group, was asked to file an amicus curiae brief on behalf of a group of national scholars on what proved to be the winning side in this landmark constitutional rights case.
