The Jackson office of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP has made a donation of $25,000 to the Mississippi College School of Law. The donation will go towards sustaining the R. Jess Brown Scholarship for Leadership in Racial Reconciliation.

“MC Law is extremely grateful to Bradley Arant Boult Cummings for their generous support of the R. Jess Brown Scholarship Fund,” said Dean Jim Rosenblatt.

The R. Jess Brown Scholarship for Leadership in Racial Reconciliation, named for one of the first African-American attorneys in Mississippi, is given annually to a second year student at the Mississippi College School of Law. Recipients, in addition to being in good academic standing, must exemplify the spirit of R. Jess Brown, who dedicated his life to representing those who had no access to the legal system.

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings attorneys Jeffrey Blackwood, an alumnus of Mississippi College School of Law, and Stacey Moore serve on the scholarship’s selection committee.

“It is an honor for Bradley Arant Boult Cummings to fund a scholarship in the name of someone who gave so much to those citizens of Mississippi who were most in need,” said Blackwood. “Hopefully this scholarship, by supporting law students who also hold R. Jess Brown’s values, will ensure the future of this important tradition of community service.”
