Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that partner Jim Stewart has been named to this year’s Birmingham Business Journal “Top 40 Under 40” list. This annual award recognizes young Birmingham professionals making a difference in their companies and the community. This year’s recipients are profiled in a special issue of the Birmingham Business Journal published today, and will be honored at a luncheon on March 24.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Jim, and we congratulate him on this achievement,” said Firm Chairman Beau Grenier. “It is no surprise to Jim’s colleagues and clients that he has been singled out in this way, as we all have seen first-hand his dedication to the firm and the community. He plays a valuable role at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings and we are proud to see that recognized.”

Stewart is one of the youngest attorneys in the firm’s history to serve as a practice chair. His group, Corporate, Finance and Securities, is the second largest in the firm and Stewart oversees attorneys from five offices throughout the Southeast. Stewart also boasts his own successful practice and is in high-demand by clients in the southeast and around the country.  He handles transactions involving tens of millions of dollars each year for a broad range of clients, including emerging and start-up businesses as well as established companies in the technology and healthcare IT sectors.  Stewart acts on both the buy and sell sides in these transactions, which can be traditional mergers and acquisitions, or matters involving venture capital investment and private equity fund formation. His matters in just the past few months have included the sale of a client with an enterprise valuation of over $50 million to a private equity firm, the sale of another company valued at $30 million to a private equity buyer, and a $6 million venture capital investment in a healthcare IT company.  Stewart represents leading clients in the Southeast, but recent deals have also had him working with companies and investors from Texas, Massachusetts, Virginia and California.  He holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
