New Stab at Defining Patentability; Full Federal Circuit to Revisit Vexing Question
In a February 4, 2013, article, the National Law Journal examined an upcoming February 8 Federal Circuit en banc argument in CLS Bank International v. Alice Corp. The case involves the validity of patents for a computerized method of conducting financial transactions and is the culmination of years of debate over how to interpret Section 101 of the Patent Act. Angela Holt, partner in the Huntsville office and registered patent attorney, was asked to comment on how companies and individuals may prepare for the March 16 deadline for the “first-to-file” patent system.
