Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Partner Kevin C. Newsom Named to Samford University’s Board of Overseers

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that partner Kevin C. Newsom, who chairs the firm’s Appellate Litigation Group, has been named to Samford University’s Board of Overseers. He will serve a four-year term on the board, which advises the University’s president and administration on academic issues and policies.

Mr. Newsom has an active appellate practice. He has personally argued four cases before the United States Supreme Court, filed amicus curiae briefs in dozens of cases before the country’s highest court, and authored numerous petitions for certiorari and briefs in opposition to certiorari. Additionally, Mr. Newsom has argued more than 25 cases in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Tenth, Eleventh, and D.C. Circuits, as well as in the Alabama Supreme Court and the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. Prior to joining Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, Mr. Newsom served for three and a half years as the State of Alabama's Solicitor General, in which capacity he directed the state's appellate litigation in the U.S. Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals, and the Alabama Supreme Court. He holds a J.D. (summa cum laude) from Harvard Law School and a B.A. (summa cum laude) from Samford University.
