Bradley Jackson Attorney Michael J. Bentley Appointed to Fifth Federal Circuit Bar Association Board of Governors

Firm News, Accolade

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Jackson attorney Michael J. Bentley, a senior associate in the firm’s Appellate Litigation Practice Group, has been appointed to the Board of Governors of the Fifth Federal Circuit Bar Association.

“We congratulate Michael on his well-deserved board appointment with the Fifth Federal Circuit Bar,” said Firm Chairman Beau Grenier.

The goal of the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit is to improve and facilitate the administration of justice in the federal courts within the Fifth Circuit, which includes 17 active judges and is based in New Orleans.

Bentley has litigated appeals of all types in state and federal court and has served as appellate counsel at trial for significant litigation matters. He has represented a diverse group of clients in a variety of appeals, ranging from the appeal of a jury verdict in a multi-million-dollar oil-and-gas dispute, to the interlocutory appeal of a maritime seizure order, to the preparation of an amicus brief supporting a corporation’s constitutionally protected property rights and a challenge to Mississippi’s lethal injection protocol.

Bentley also currently serves as chair of the Mississippi Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Section. In addition, he previously served as the president of the Jackson Young Lawyers Association, as a director for the Mississippi Young Lawyers Division, and as a volunteer pro bono attorney for clients referred by the Mississippi Center for Justice and Southern Poverty Law Center.

Bentley received his J.D. (summa cum laude) from Mississippi College School of Law and also has a B.A. (magna cum laude) from Millsaps College.
