B. David Joffe Quoted in Law360 Regarding Supreme Court’s Same-Sex Marriage Ruling

B. David Joffe was quoted in a Law360 article entitled “Lawyers Weigh In On High Court’s Same-Sex Ruling,” exploring the significance of the high court’s denial to hear seven petitions to review lower court rulings, effectively legalizing same-sex marriage in Indiana, Wisconsin, Utah, Virginia and Oklahoma.

"These states and others in the same circuits (Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming) will now have to recognize same-sex marriages from other states," said Joffe. "It remains to be seen, however, whether the Supreme Court will later accept a case involving a split among the circuit courts. Until it does, the patchwork of state laws on same-sex marriage will remain in place."
