Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that partner John Parker Sweeney was named President of DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar at the organization’s annual meeting in San Francisco on Oct. 25. Sweeney has served as a DRI Director since 2008 and as a DRI Officer since 2001. He has served as DRI President Elect since last October.
“We are very proud of John’s work with the DRI, and extremely pleased that his leadership skills have elevated him to this position,” said Firm Chairman Beau Grenier. “His depth and breadth of experience will serve the organization well.”
DRI is the leading organization of defense attorneys, including in-house counsel, representing business interests in litigation. Membership in DRI provides access to resources and tools for attorneys who strive to provide the highest level of service to their business clients. DRI is host to more than 30 substantive law committees engaging thousands of its members in ongoing, critical dialogue about relevant practice areas. DRI leads the defense bar in advocating for justice and balance in the courtroom and sets the highest standards of professionalism for its members.
“I’m honored to be asked to lead the largest association of defense lawyers, both in the U.S. and internationally, dedicated to representing the business men and women who create the goods and services and jobs that make possible our way of life,” said Sweeney.
Sweeney has more than 30 years of experience defending major class action and mass torts involving product liability, consumer protection, environmental, and toxic tort cases, which allows him to tailor an appropriate litigation response for any company to meet those types of high-stakes risks.
