Bradley Arant Boult Cummings to Host Mortgage Bankers Association School of Mortgage Banking Program in Nashville

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP will host the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) School of Mortgage Banking (SOMB) program at its Nashville office December 2-5. The four-day educational event provides training to mortgage banking professionals pursuing MBA accreditation. It will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the firm’s office located at Roundabout Plaza, 1600 Division Street, Suite 700.

This is the first time the program has been held in Nashville. Bradley Arant Boult Cummings has also hosted the School of Mortgage Banking program in the firm’s Birmingham office. Attorneys from Bradley Arant Boult Cummings will serve as faculty for some of the sessions, including partners Robert Maddox, D. Brian O’Dell, and Jon H. Patterson, all members of the firm’s Financial Services Litigation and Compliance Practice Group.

The program, which still has openings, will consist of two tracks:

SOMB I (An Introduction to the Real Estate Finance Industry) is the introductory course that emphasizes the interrelated roles of the departments within a residential mortgage banking firm and the relationships of the various institutions and agencies throughout the real estate finance industry. At the conclusion of the course, attendees leave with a solid foundation, understanding the role and importance of the loan production, commercial lending, underwriting, secondary marketing, warehousing, and servicing functions in the mortgage banking industry.

SOMB II (Managing Profitability and Risk) emphasizes effective organization and management of the production, servicing, and secondary marketing departments for the purpose of controlling risks and maximizing bottom-line profits. This course covers developing new markets, production management, servicing portfolio management and valuation, marketing risk management, and pricing strategy.
