Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Attorney Alan Perry Takes Office as IHL Board President

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Jackson attorney Alan W. Perry will formally take office as President of the State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) Board of Trustees on May 8.

"I look forward to continuing to serve with my fellow trustees,” said Mr. Perry.

Governor Haley Barbour appointed Mr. Perry to the IHL Board of Trustees in 2008, and his term will expire in May 2018. He most recently served as Vice President of the Board.

The Board of Trustees is the constitutional governing body of the State Institutions of Higher Learning, which governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University, including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry, and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi, including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.

Mr. Perry is regarded as one of Mississippi’s leading lawyers, having been involved in some of the largest and most complicated litigation matters in the state. He has handled banking, securities and antitrust cases, as well as matters involving business torts and statutory claims. He is recognized for his financial law acumen and is often hired in accounting and auditing matters, as well as other cases involving financial institutions. He also maintains an active appellate practice.

Mr. Perry earned his B.B.A. (summa cum laude) from the University of Mississippi and his J.D. (magna cum laude) from Harvard Law School. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is listed in both The Best Lawyers in America and in Chambers USA. He has served as a member of the Standing Committee on Rules and Procedure of the Judicial Conference of the United States and as a Member of the Board of Visitors of Harvard Law School.
