Alabama State Bar Recognizes David Hymer with Two Service Awards
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Birmingham partner David G. Hymer has received the Alabama State Bar 2015 Award of Merit and the 2015 President’s Award. The Award of Merit, which is the highest honor given by the Alabama State Bar (ASB) to a lawyer, recognizes outstanding constructive service to the legal profession in Alabama. The President’s Award, which Mr. Hymer also received in 2014, is presented to members of the bar who best exemplify the ASB motto, “Lawyers Render Service.” Mr. Hymer was formally presented with both 2015 awards on July 16 during the ASB Annual Meeting.

Mr. Hymer has served on the Board of Bar Examiners of the ASB since 2001 and is the immediate past chair of the board. Under his leadership, the Board of Bar Examiners conducted an in-depth evaluation of the bar examination testing process, which resulted in Alabama becoming the first deep-South state to adopt the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) in 2011. The UBE is coordinated by the National Conference of Bar Examiners and allows for the portability of bar exam scores to other UBE states, benefiting law school graduates, as well as the profession and the public.
Mr. Hymer’s trial practice focuses on complex business and commercial litigation, which includes a significant plaintiff’s practice on behalf of corporate clients, as well as a more traditional corporate defense practice. In addition to his trial work involving business and commercial disputes, Mr. Hymer also has substantial courtroom trial experience in environmental, product liability, antitrust, construction and class action litigation. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is a fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation.
