Bruce P. Ely Quoted in Law360 Regarding How the Comptroller v. Wynne Ruling Could Affect More States

State and Local Tax (SALT) partner Bruce Ely was quoted in Law360 in regards to the U.S. Supreme Court's May ruling in Comptroller v. Wynne, that a Maryland tax scheme that credits residents for out-of-state income taxes at the state, but not county level resulted in an unconstitutional double tax. Experts say litigation is primed in other jurisdictions with systems of taxation similar to Maryland's.
Ely, who advises clients on the choice of business entity and co-authored a book on the subject entitled "Keatinge and Conaway on Choice of Business Entity," said taxpayers breathed a sigh of relief following the Supreme Court's decision in Wynne.
