Bruce P. Ely Quoted in State Tax Notes Regarding Alabama Governor’s Special Session Budget Plan

State and Local Tax (SALT) partner Bruce Ely was quoted in State Tax Notes in regards to a special session budget proposal from Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley (R) that would raise the cigarette and business privilege taxes, which was met with opposition and skepticism.

“Many of us hope the flat tax proposal will surface again. Yes, it needs work, but we could clean up a lot of messes and inconsistencies in our income tax code in one fell swoop. But I’m a tax policy wonk, not a politician,” said Ely.
