Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Managing Partner Margaret Cupples Elected Mississippi Bar Section Chair
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Margaret Oertling Cupples, managing partner of the firm’s Jackson office, was elected chair of the Mississippi Bar’s Appellate Practice Section. Ms. Cupples will serve as chair for a one-year term, which commenced on August 1.
“I look forward to serving the Bar and all my colleagues in this role over the coming year. It is an honor and undertaking to which I am firmly committed,” Ms. Cupples said. “I am thankful for the opportunity to continue the good work of this new section of the Bar through this leadership and learning experience.”
The Bar’s Appellate Practice Section was established in 2012 to promote the skillful, efficient, and effective practice of appellate law and oral advocacy before appellate courts in Mississippi. The Executive Committee was formally announced at the Bar’s annual meeting in July.
Ms. Cupples’s practice at Bradley Arant primarily includes civil appeals and commercial litigation, with a focus on asbestos, benzene and silica mass-tort and products liability cases, as well as general commercial litigation. She has participated in more than two dozen appeals in Mississippi's Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, and in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Her work on cases at the pretrial, trial and appellate stages includes litigation across the country, including in Mississippi, California, Kentucky, West Virginia, Illinois, and Minnesota.
Ms. Cupples earned her J.D. (magna cum laude) from Washington & Lee University School of Law and her B.A. (magna cum laude) from Trinity University. She is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of Appellate Law and Products Liability Litigation, in Benchmark Litigation as a Litigation Star, and as one of the top 250 Business Women in Litigation.
