Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Partner Edmund Sauer Elected Tennessee Bar Association Section Chair

Press Release, Awards & Recognition

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Nashville partner Edmund S. Sauer was recently elected chair of the Tennessee Bar Association’s (TBA) Appellate Practice Section. Mr. Sauer will serve as chair for a one-year term. In conjunction with his leadership role, he will present at the section’s Tennessee Supreme Court Academy CLE on October 1.

“It is an honor to serve my colleagues in this role,” Mr. Sauer said. “I am firmly committed to the tenets on which the Appellate Practice Section was founded, as I believe they strengthen the legal community and raise the appellate bar across the state. I am thrilled to be in a position where I can use my background to further the opportunities available to my peers.”

The Appellate Practice Section was established to provide TBA members with an opportunity to unite to exchange information, and to provide continuing education on appellate practice issues. The Tennessee Supreme Court Academy CLE at which Mr. Sauer will speak is one example of the educational forums the section was created to offer. At the event, attendees will benefit through observation of oral arguments. The seminar will cover best practices for oral argument, common mistakes made and standards of review.

Mr. Sauer’s practice at the firm is focused on handling appeals and drafting trial and post-trial motions on virtually any substantive legal issue. He also advises clients on litigation strategy and prospects of success at trial and on appeal. Mr. Sauer has extensive experience in handling appeals in federal and state courts across the country. He has handled appeals involving a variety of subjects, including ERISA, commercial and contractual disputes, insurance, preemption, intellectual property, financial services, arbitration, pharmaceuticals, class action, federal and state constitutional law, civil rights, environmental law, the Federal Tort Claims Act, white-collar crime, bankruptcy, consumer fraud, antitrust, and the Federal Employers Liability Act.

Mr. Sauer earned his juris doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from Centre College and a master’s degree from Queen’s University.
