Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Partner Joel Kuehnert Named State Bar Environmental Section Chair
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Birmingham partner Joel M. Kuehnert has been named chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Alabama State Bar (ASB). Mr. Kuehnert, who previously held the role of chair-elect, will serve as chair for a one-year term.
“It is an honor to serve the Alabama State Bar and my colleagues in this role,” Mr. Kuehnert said. “My involvement with the ASB’s Environmental Section over the years has been an educational and rewarding experience, and I look forward to serving alongside my colleagues to uphold the mission and purposes of the section in the years to come.”
The Environmental Law Section was established to promote the objectives of the ASB within the field of environmental law. As chair, Mr. Kuehnert is considered to be the chief executive officer of the section, thus maintaining charge of its general direction and affairs.
Mr. Kuehnert’s primary areas of practice include complex environmental litigation, enforcement actions and citizen suits, pharmaceutical and medical products litigation and patents. He has a technical background in civil and environmental engineering and is a registered member of the patent bar of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has extensive experience in the context of litigation and environmental compliance on a variety of issues arising under both state and federal law. Mr. Kuehnert has represented clients in a broad range of environmental matters, including Clean Water Act litigation, interstate water disputes and matters before Alabama's Environmental Management Commission. He has also been actively involved in numerous toxic tort matters in state and federal court in areas such as asbestos and chemical exposure, products liability, and environmental trespass and nuisance disputes.
Mr. Kuehnert earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and his B.E. from Vanderbilt University. He has been recognized with distinctions from Alabama Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America.®
