Bruce P. Ely Quoted in State Tax Notes Regarding Alabama's Special Session Ending Without Budget or Tax Reform Agreement

State and Local Tax (SALT) partner Bruce Ely was quoted in State Tax Notes regarding Alabama’s special legislative session ending August 11 without a fiscal 2016 budget or a tax reform agreement to address the state’s budget shortfall. Gov. Robert Bentley said he would call a second special session to try to pass a budget before the current budget expires September 30.
"I was delighted to see the business community coalesce so quickly to convince the Senate leadership and [House] Speaker [Mike] Hubbard how bad that unitary combined reporting bill was," Ely said. "We just hope that bill doesn't resurface, certainly not in the second special session."
