Two Bradley Arant Partners Selected for Who’s Who Legal: Restructuring & Insolvency 2016

Bradley Arant is pleased to announce that Birmingham partner Patrick Darby and Nashville partner William L. Norton, III, have been selected for inclusion in Who’s Who Legal: Restructuring & Insolvency 2016, which recognizes them as being among the world’s leading restructuring and insolvency lawyers. The guide will be published and distributed in December 2015.

Mr. Darby represents debtors and creditors in business reorganizations, bankruptcies, workouts and out-of-court debt restructurings. He has more than 20 years of experience in corporate cases under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and related litigation. He is also one of the country’s leading practitioners in municipal bankruptcy, representing Jefferson County, Alabama in the second largest Chapter 9 case in history. In business reorganization and insolvency cases, Mr. Darby has developed special expertise in healthcare and construction. His debtor work has included significant Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings in Alabama and other states, including Delaware, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Washington. Mr. Darby is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, an adjunct professor of bankruptcy law at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, and an instructor at the University of Alabama School of Law. Mr. Darby has been recognized by Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, Chambers USA and Birmingham Magazine. He earned his A.B. from Dartmouth College and his J.D. (magna cum laude) from Washington & Lee University, where he served as editor in chief of the Washington & Lee Law Review.

Mr. Norton focuses his practice in the business bankruptcy area, dealing in all aspects of bankruptcy cases, creditor rights and insolvency. With more than 30 years of practice of bankruptcy and insolvency law, he has represented a full range of client interests. He now primarily focuses on Chapter 11 business cases representing debtors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, committees and trustees. Mr. Norton is the managing editor of Norton Bankruptcy Law and Practice 3d and the co-author of Norton Creditors’ Rights Handbook, both of which are published by Thomson Reuters. He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt Law School, and a frequent speaker at seminars on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, real property foreclosure and the Uniform Commercial Code. Mr. Norton has been recognized by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, Business Tennessee, Nashville Business Journal and Lawdragon 3000. He earned his B.A. and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University.
