Bradley Arant Partner Elected Capitol Area Bar Association Secretary-Treasurer

Firm News, Accolade

Bradley Arant is pleased to announce that Jackson partner J. William Manuel has been elected secretary-treasurer of the Capitol Area Bar Association (CABA). Mr. Manuel, who most recently served as a CABA director, will act as secretary-treasurer for a one-year term, and then proceed with annual terms as president-elect, president, and past president.

“I am honored to step into this role and the leadership trajectory that it brings,” Mr. Manuel said. “I have really enjoyed working with CABA and relish continuing to work with the good people on the Board and committees. Hopefully, I can build upon the great traditions and service that CABA has provided to the Jackson area legal community.”

The CABA serves Hinds County and the metropolitan areas of Madison and Rankin Counties by providing members with opportunities for engagement through publications and events; supporting state and federal judiciary; promoting the highest standards of civility and professionalism; encouraging pro bono and community involvement, particularly with the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project and Mission First Legal Aid Clinic; and engaging in diversity issues affecting law practice.

Mr. Manuel focuses his practice primarily on commercial and employment litigation. He has handled various disputes for both large and small businesses in Mississippi and other jurisdictions. Mr. Manuel's clients include numerous manufacturers and commercial interests as well as various insurance and financial services companies. He also has experience advising businesses on issues involving age discrimination, sexual harassment, and wage/overtime disputes. Mr. Manual is an American Bar Foundation Fellow. He earned his B.A. (magna cum laude) from Mississippi State University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
