Bradley Arant Welcomes Bart Kempf as Counsel

Bradley Arant is pleased to announce that Bart J. Kempf has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as counsel and will practice on the firm’s Environmental and Life Sciences teams.

Mr. Kempf’s practice involving litigation, agency proceedings, enforcement actions, compliance and legislative counseling, and transactional matters concerning a broad range of environmental, land use, and natural resources law. Mr. Kempf has worked on national, state, and local issues related to several federal statutes and their state counterparts, including the Clean Water Act; the Clean Air Act; the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act; the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act; the Endangered Species Act; and the National Environmental Policy Act. His matters implicate a number of federal agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of the Interior, and the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Kempf also has experience addressing global and U.S. product regulation issues.

For nearly a decade, Mr. Kempf has practiced environmental, land use, and natural resources law in Washington, D.C. From 2011 until 2016, Mr. Kempf was a member of the Environment, Land, and Resources Department at Latham & Watkins. He also served as senior counsel on the staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, where he worked on environmental, energy, food safety, antitrust, nominations, and civil rights issues. Before working in the U.S. Senate, Mr. Kempf handled litigation and environmental matters in the Washington, D.C. office of Beveridge & Diamond. During law school, Mr. Kempf interned in the Office of U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln, the U.S. Department of Justice, Consumer Protection Branch, and the Urban Land Institute.

Mr. Kempf earned his J.D. (cum laude) from Georgetown University, his M.Ed. from the University of Virginia, and his B.A. from Sewanee: The University of the South.
