David Vance Lucas Rejoins Bradley as Partner
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that David Vance Lucas has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Huntsville office. Mr. Lucas practices on Bradley’s Intellectual Property and Litigation teams, furthering the firm’s renewed focus on protecting clients’ competitive abilities and trade secrets in light of the recently enacted federal Defend Trade Secrets Act.

The federal Defend Trade Secrets Act was recently passed to provide a greater level of nationwide protection for intellectual property and business knowledge, and is therefore increasingly critical to businesses facing international or cyber threats. In turn, Bradley has developed a rapid response capability to immediately address trade secret threats. Mr. Lucas joins Bradley’s rapid response group to provide real-time protection against trade secret and intellectual property theft across multiple jurisdictions.
Mr. Lucas is well founded in technology and legal strategy. He blends his operational experience with legal advice on intellectual property, international trade and complex litigation. Mr. Lucas is credited with Intergraph Corporation’s global intellectual property licensing and litigation strategy, which resulted in the recovery of $1 billion from patent enforcement actions against Intel, IBM, Dell, HP, Texas Instruments and others across the globe. In recent years, Mr. Lucas expanded his efforts into the burgeoning biotech industry as General Counsel to eLab Solutions, a clinical and biotech research and development company.
For more than two decades, Mr. Lucas has advised various public and private boards of directors on an array of legal, strategic and operational issues. He has also maintained U.S. Department of Defense top-secret clearance, utilizing his direct working relationships with various agencies to advise clients on special U.S. secret needs. He has extensive experience with other compliance environments, including export control, anti-bribery, privacy and special security requirements. He advises on the development, implementation and enforcement of compliance programs, as well as the harmonization of U.S., U.K. and European regulations.
Mr. Lucas's track record is underpinned by his legal acumen and credentials. He is a certified mediator, a member of the U.S. Supreme Court, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (U.S. patent appeals) and 11th Circuit, and various U. S. District Courts. He has also litigated and licensed intellectual property matters throughout the U.S., U.K., Europe and Asia. Based on his multijurisdictional experience, Mr. Lucas has developed associations with renowned legal counsel worldwide.
