State and Local Tax (SALT) attorney Bruce Ely was quoted in Bloomberg BNA on a state tax tribunal ruling against an Alabama tax regulation that limits credits for income taxes paid to other states. The formula that Chief Judge Bill Thompson's ruling voided indirectly pro-rates the federal income tax deduction granted by constitutional amendment, Ely explained.

The percentage “may also run afoul of the U.S. Supreme Court's latest internal consistency ruling, Maryland vs. Wynne last year,” Ely said.
