Norton Recognized As 2016 Outstanding Turnaround Professional

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Nashville partner William L. Norton III will receive the 2016 Outstanding Turnaround Professional Award by the Tennessee Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA). Mr. Norton will be formally honored with the award during the TMA Mid-South Commercial Law Reception on November 30.

Mr. Norton is one of the original founders of the Tennessee Chapter of the TMA and served as its first President and on the original board. Globally, TMA is comprised of more than 8,300 turnaround and corporate renewal professionals across 55 chapters. TMA was established to serve as a professional community that seeks to strengthen the global economy by working to save distressed businesses, assist management to navigate off-plan events, and help healthy companies to avoid similar pitfalls.

Mr. Norton focuses his practice in the business bankruptcy area, dealing in all aspects of bankruptcy cases, creditor rights and insolvency. With more than 30 years of practice of bankruptcy and insolvency law, he has represented a full range of client interests. He now primarily focuses on Chapter 11 business cases representing debtors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, committees and trustees. Mr. Norton is the managing editor of Norton Bankruptcy Law and Practice 3d and the co-author of Norton Creditors’ Rights Handbook, both of which are published by Thomson Reuters. He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt Law School, and a frequent speaker at seminars on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, real property foreclosure and the Uniform Commercial Code. Further, Mr. Norton has written numerous manuscripts for seminar presentations, including presentations for the American Bankruptcy Institute, American Bar Association, Memphis Bar Association Annual Bankruptcy Conference, Mid-South Commercial Law Institute, Nashville Bar Association, National Association of Credit Managers, National Business Institute, Southeastern Business Institute, Tennessee Bar Association and the U.S. Department of Justice Education Program.

Mr. Norton has been recognized by Best Lawyers, Business Tennessee, Chambers USA, Lawdragon 3000, the Nashville Business Journal, Super Lawyers and The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers.
