Bradley Partner Bruce Ely Quoted in Bloomberg BNA on Alabama Tax Judge Transition

State and Local Tax (SALT) attorney Bruce Ely was quoted in Bloomberg BNA on the appointment of Montgomery tax attorney Jeff Patterson to the role of chief judge of the Alabama Tax Tribunal, replacing retiring Chief Judge Bill Thompson. Gov. Kay Ivey appointed Patterson on April 26, reversing the decision of her predecessor Gov. Robert Bentley, who had appointed Associate Judge Christy Edwards to take over as chief judge.

Ely said Thompson would be leaving the tax tribunal “in good hands with Jeff Patterson as Chief Judge and Christy Edwards as Associate Judge. Both are experienced tax attorneys.”

“It's not certain whether Judge Edwards will stay on for the long-term, but we hope so,” said Ely.
