Bradley Partner David Smith Recognized for Service as Chair of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics Board
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that S. David Smith, a partner in the firm’s Houston office, was honored by the Texas Center for Legal Ethics (TCLE) for his service as chair of the board of trustees. During his tenure as board chair, the TCLE expanded its content on the Texas EthicsExchange, which is a unique online resource for practitioners, and developed its membership initiative. Mr. Smith was recognized by the board at its May 5 meeting, where he welcomed the incoming 2017-2018 chair.
Mr. Smith’s practice is primarily focused on providing counsel to financial service companies across a number of states, representing lenders and servicers in the mortgage, auto finance, credit card, payday and auto title lending areas. He is board certified in consumer and commercial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. As chair of the TCLE, Mr. Smith served as a contributing editor in regards to consumer and commercial law ethics issues. Mr. Smith earned his J.D. from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University and his B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University.
The Texas Center for Legal Ethics began in 1989 as an independent, non-profit corporation to promote the values contained in the Texas Lawyers’ Creed of Professionalism. Founded by three retired chief justices of the Texas Supreme Court, TCLE endeavors to be a storehouse of knowledge and resources for ethics and professionalism by offering courses, speakers, symposia, and CLE seminars for the legal community and others.
