Bradley Partner Dan Murphy Quoted in BBJ on Pressing Healthcare Issues for Legal Industry
Birmingham Business Journal
Bradley attorney Dan Murphy was quoted in the Birmingham Business Journal on changes in the healthcare industry that could affect Birmingham. Murphy commented on trends to watch for in the city’s medical scene and the possible impact of the current political climate:
Local issues: “The Birmingham healthcare industry will continue to be shaped by the highly competitive hospital and health systems market. Expansions, acquisitions and strategic alliances driven by health systems will continue to alter the landscape for all types of hospital-based, ambulatory, physician and other healthcare services.”
Political impact: “To date, the Trump administration’s policies have had relatively modest and only indirect effects on our firm’s focus. To the extent the administration’s efforts to chip away at or completely repeal the Affordable Care Act have success, this could result in fewer patients with health insurance. Fewer patients with health insurance means less revenue for our healthcare provider clients, which could lead to a slowdown in mergers, acquisitions and expansion activities. We expect that initiatives on telemedicine, the opioid crisis and rural healthcare may be areas of focus for the administration and our clients.”
