Bradley attorney Jason Mehta was quoted in Bloomberg on the Trump administration’s healthcare platform, which is built on cutting red tape for business and streamlining the rules. But some officials wonder if it has actually made it easier for medical providers to follow the law.

“Two years in, the jury is still very much out,” said Mehta, a former Justice Department prosecutor.

Officials have made a point of targeting wrongdoing by individuals rather than companies and de-emphasizing reliance on sub-regulatory guidance in lawsuits, for example. On the other hand, Mehta said, there have been “ominous” signs such as a hiring surge for federal prosecutors for civil fraud cases.
