Stephen H. Hall and Jeremy A. Smith coauthored “IP Protection: Corporate Officers Have Duty to Assign Patents” in the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) quarterly Legal Report newsletter. The article concerns ownership of patent rights when an employer has failed to procure a proper invention or IP assignment agreement with an employee, specifically a corporate officer’s fiduciary duty to assign said rights to a corporation.
