Rachel Byrd’s practice focuses on healthcare transactions and the regulatory and operational issues that affect healthcare providers. She has experience handling transactions involving a variety of provider types, including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, and others. Rachel also regularly advises clients on issues including compliance with state and Federal anti-kickback and self-referral laws, licensing, and provider enrollment.

Rachel graduated cum laude from Duke University School of Law, where she served as the Managing Editor of Law & Contemporary Problems. She also earned a Master of Arts in English from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

  • Assisted team in the representation of healthcare company in the $40 million sale of a 106-bed community hospital in Watsonville, California to a private investor consortium in a REIT-financed transaction.
  • Assisted team in the representation of healthcare company in various aspects of the implementation of a Corporate Integrity Agreement, including the legal review of all contracts for compliance with the federal Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute.
  • Assisted team in the representation of client in the acquisition of 11 surgery centers from a group of related sellers, including the regulatory diligence, licensure, provider enrollment, and mergers and acquisition work.
