Laney Gifford has a diverse general litigation practice, with a focus on representing corporate clients from a wide range of industries in class actions and complex commercial litigation.
A significant portion of her practice is also dedicated to the representation of insurers in life and disability cases, where she frequently defends claims for bad faith, breach of contract, and ERISA violations. Laney also regularly represents healthcare industry clients in medical malpractice litigation in both state and federal court.
Laney received her J.D. (summa cum laude) from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where she served as both student materials editor and junior editor for the Cumberland Law Review. She was a Judge Abraham Caruthers Fellow and was named Best Oralist in the Donworth Moot Court Competition. While in law school, Laney also served as a judicial intern for the Hon. R. David Proctor of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.
