Bradley’s Governmental Affairs Practice Group partners with our clients to develop and execute results-oriented government relations strategies. We understand that our clients often interact with some level or branch of government to achieve their legal and business objectives. Our team is composed of veteran local, state, and federal policymakers, including individuals who previously served as a member of Congress, advisors to members of Congress, a mayor, chief of staff to a governor, chief of staff to a state house speaker, chief of staff to a senate pro tem, chief of staff and assistant commissioner for legislative affairs for the state health department, legislative liaison for the state department of economic and community development, counsel to a governor, counsel to a mayor, counsel to a public service commission, and counsel to a state legislature. We have spent our careers – both within and outside government – developing real-world experience, knowledge of governmental processes, and key relationships to serve clients in this constantly changing sector. Our Governmental Affairs practice includes a full range of services that help our clients solve problems and capitalize on opportunities. Our services are focused on two primary areas: advocacy and compliance.

  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies for private and public entities at the federal, state, and local levels of government, including direct advocacy or assisting in the retention and management of others
  • Serve as a single point of contact for governmental affairs, given the involvement of numerous jurisdictions and multiple levels of government
  • Lobby members of the executive and legislative branches of governments
  • Draft legislation, amendments, rules and other government documents
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory activity
  • Establish and manage advocacy coalitions, including grassroots and public affairs efforts
  • Represent clients on legal and policy issues before the Attorney General
  • Counsel clients on how to establish and maintain effective compliance regimes for interactions with public officials and employees, given the many laws on lobbying, ethics, gifts, and campaign finance in various jurisdictions and among the branches of government
  • Assist in the formation and management of Political Action Committees (PACs), including providing legal advice and/or drafting and filing required forms and reports
  • Provide legal advice about compliance with relevant local, state, or federal laws
  • Audit organizations to identify risk areas, develop and implement compliance regimes, including in-house training
  • Draft requests for advisory opinions
