Alex Dugan represents debtors, lenders, ad hoc creditor groups and other key stakeholders in distressed situations. She advises clients on all aspects of complex Chapter 11 cases from pre-filing strategy through confirmation and emergence from bankruptcy. She also has substantial experience with bankruptcy litigation and out-of-court restructurings. Her representations have spanned a range of industries, including energy, manufacturing, retail, and restaurants.

In addition to her restructuring work, Alex provides guidance to clients on bankruptcy-related regulatory and compliance matters, supervises large-scale remediation projects, designs and presents bankruptcy training programs, implements changes to business practices that are required as a result of new statutes and regulations, and works through operational matters that arise daily in a client’s bankruptcy department.

Alex is committed to mentoring the next generation of lawyers and is a frequent speaker on restructuring and business organization topics at the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law. She also has participated in numerous continuing legal education programs, including programs hosted by the Next Gen Committee at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.
