Blake Bernard’s practice focuses on patent and trademark prosecution, intellectual property opinion work, and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the areas of patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret law. Blake has a technical background in mechanical engineering, and primarily prosecutes patents in the mechanical, electromechanical and industrial arts. He has extensive experience prosecuting patents in the medical device, materials handling, control systems, computer software, and consumer products industries. Blake also handles a variety of licensing, joint development, and other intellectual property transactions for his clients designed to monetize and leverage a company’s intellectual property portfolio.

Blake enjoys working with clients as they develop new products to protect their valuable proprietary inventions and technological business advantages. He also frequently prepares freedom to operate opinions related to new product development and marketing efforts for clients ranging from startups to well-established corporations. In addition, Blake represents private equity and venture capital investors in due diligence and analysis of international patent, trademark, and other intellectual property portfolios held by target companies in mergers and acquisition deals.

Before joining Bradley, Blake was a partner and practice group leader for the intellectual property team at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP, in Nashville.
