Professionalism: A Judicial Perspective

Bradley partner Michael J. Bentley recently moderated a panel with Circuit Judge Kyle Duncan on professionalism in appellate advocacy at the Bar Association of the Federal Fifth Circuit annual seminar in New Orleans. The panel offered insights on balancing zealous advocacy with a lawyer’s responsibilities of candor, civility, and decorum in the appeals process. The panelists also discussed best practices for briefing and oral argument, including how to responsibly deploy AI products to assist with appeals. Mr. Bentley is a past president of the Bar Association and frequently handles appeals in the Fifth Circuit.
