Bradley Awards Diversity Scholarship to UNC School of Law Student

Firm News

Bradley is pleased to announce that it has awarded one of its annual diversity scholarships for 2020 to University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Law student Maria Carisetti.

As part of the firm’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, Bradley’s diversity scholarship promotes the education of law students who reflect the diversity of the legal marketplace and who are traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession. Each scholarship includes a summer clerkship in one of the firm’s offices.

“We are very pleased that Maria will join us next summer as Bradley’s diversity scholarship recipient,” said Bradley’s Director of Inclusion and Diversity George Medlock. “It is very clear that Maria is passionate about working in a more diverse and inclusive legal community while also serving and sharing her legal skills and knowledge with the community. We are ecstatic to have her back at the firm next summer.”

A second-year law student, Ms. Carisetti will return to Bradley’s Charlotte office next summer for her clerkship, after serving as a summer clerk in the same office this past summer. While in law school, Ms. Carisetti has been actively involved with the UNC School of Law Pro Bono Program. Her work included assisting Legal Aid of North Carolina offices in Cherokee, Kinston, and Greenville, N.C. She also was involved with the UNC program’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, Wills for Heroes Clinic, UNC Law Cancer Project Clinic, and Women in Law Community Legal Project at The Compass Center. In addition, she was a summer associate this past summer at Atrium Health and previously worked as a paralegal at Jensen Law Group. Originally from Bath, N.Y., Ms. Carisetti received her Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts both from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Bradley is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce and culture at the firm and engages in significant efforts in this regard. The firm’s efforts include hosting a summer intern program for minority college students and regularly organizing, hosting and participating in programs, seminars and panels aimed at increasing the participation of women and minorities in the legal profession.
