Bradley Launches International Arbitration Team

Firm News

Bradley has launched an International Arbitration team focused on representing clients globally in international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations. Jennifer Morrison Ersin, counsel in the firm’s Jackson, Mississippi and Washington, D.C. offices and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), along with Washington, D.C. partner Douglas L. Patin and Birmingham partner Carly Miller, will co-lead the team of more than 20 attorneys across the firm who understand the inherent complexities involved in cross-border investments and the intricate framework of international arbitration law.

“Bradley’s team serves as a strategic asset for clients navigating global disputes, which have grown more complex with added layers of risk in today’s volatile economy,” said Ms. Ersin, who concentrates her practice in international disputes. “For years, our attorneys have worked with various entities to resolve these types of matters so centralizing our experience creates efficiencies in how we help bridge legal systems, enforce rights across jurisdictions, and safeguard investments. Our group underscores the volume of international work our firm handles through several of our key practices, including banking and financial services, construction, energy, and government contracts.”

Bradley’s International Arbitration team provides sophisticated counsel to clients throughout all aspects of the arbitration process, including drafting arbitration agreements, arbitrator selection, interim and emergency relief applications, written submissions, evidentiary hearings and enforcement of arbitral awards. The firm’s attorneys have represented corporate entities, sovereign nations, and state-owned entities in arbitrations conducted under the rules of arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, and the London Court of International Arbitration.

Bradley Chairman of the Board and Managing Partner Jonathan M. Skeeters noted, “We are proud of the innovative way in which our attorneys collaborate to continue to expand the services we offer to clients. The establishment of the International Arbitration team highlights yet another practice area where the quality and subject matter knowledge of our attorneys allows us to provide top-tier counsel globally to clients in nuanced and highly regulated sectors.”

The International Arbitration team includes key members from Bradley’s top-ranked Construction Practice Group and Energy team who provide sector-specific insights that strengthen clients’ positions and create efficiencies by eliminating learning curves. The attorneys on the team have handled numerous investor-state arbitrations, representing both investors and sovereign nations in matters arising from a variety of sectors, including energy and construction, as well as securities and agribusiness under multilateral and bilateral investment treaties between investors and sovereigns from Central Asia, North Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America.
