Bradley attorneys Alexis Buese and Erin Jane Illman were quoted in Law360 on the launch of the firm’s new Retail, Digital Commerce & Consumer Brands practice, which provides consumer-facing businesses a more integrated approach to legal risks.
Buese emphasized that the practice formalizes work Bradley was already doing across multiple legal disciplines.
"We were already doing a significant amount of sophisticated work for retailers, e-commerce companies, and consumer brands across the firm, but that work was spread across different legal disciplines," Buese said. "Our clients do not experience these issues in silos, so we did not want to approach them that way either."
Illman focused on the growing privacy and cybersecurity risks for retailers.
"Retailers are uniquely vulnerable in this space because they collect enormous volumes of consumer data — payment card information, loyalty program details, browsing behavior, geolocation data — and they operate across multiple channels, from brick-and-mortar to e-commerce to mobile apps," Illman explained.
Both partners stressed the flexibility of the new structure.
"One of the advantages of the structure is that we are able to draw from Bradley's broader platform depending on what a particular client needs, rather than trying to fit every matter into a fixed group of lawyers," Illman said.
