Employees who may be whistleblowers often take their employers’ documents or make secret recordings to prove that the employer has engaged in what they believe is illegal conduct. Employers claim that the purloined documents and secret recordings are confidential or trade secrets and pursue the employees for violations of their policies, non-disclosure agreements, or trade secret laws.
