Bradley partner Jonathan Kolodziej was quoted in Market Watch on a federal appeals court ruling that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) funding structure is “unconstitutional”-- a ruling that may jeopardize the future and existence of the agency.

“Uncertainty is the word of the day,” said Kolodziej, who advises financial services companies on regulatory compliance. “As much of a thorn as the CFPB may be in the sides of companies, we have at this point invested so much time and effort to get to where we are,” he added. “To just wipe that away would only add more burden and uncertainty to the situation.”

Currently, the decision is only binding in the federal courts of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, but it is expected to be appealed before the Supreme Court.
