Jonathan Wohlwend Quoted in Alabama Daily News on Canceled Vote on NIL Bill
Alabama Daily News
Bradley attorney Jonathan Wohlwend was quoted in Alabama Daily News discussing a proposed NIL bill, the Student Compensation and Opportunity through Rights and Endorsements (SCORE) Act.
The bill, which was pulled from the U.S. House floor hours before a set vote, was backed by the NCAA and college sports conferences and would have given college sports organizations a limited antitrust exemption.
“It does provide them the ability to create rules relating to NIL, transfers and eligibility requirements without being concerned about violating antitrust laws,” he said.
Under the SCORE Act, student-athletes would be prohibited from becoming university employees and organizations would have been allowed to create and enforce rules on athlete compensation, transfers and eligibility without fear of antitrust lawsuits.
