Bradley attorney Aron Beezley was quoted in Law360 on the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) suspension of 1,091 companies from the 8(a)Business Development Program after they failed to meet a Jan. 19 deadline to submit three years of financial records.

The suspensions are part of the Trump administration’s broader push to root out alleged fraud in the program. Beezley raised practical and procedural concerns about how the suspensions were carried out.

He told Law360 that he has received reports of technical problems on the SBA's end in terms of receiving the financial documentation submitted by 8(a) participants, resulting in some firms being suspended despite attempting to comply. Beezley also said some companies did not receive sufficient notice or clear instructions from the agency.

Beezley added that he is helping affected companies appeal their suspensions and believes there is a strong likelihood of success in the cases he has reviewed.

Overall, Beezley’s comments frame the suspensions as less clear-cut enforcement actions and more as a process undermined by technical issues, notice deficiencies and a rushed implementation, potentially opening the door to successful appeals by affected participants.
