Bradley attorney Will Manuel was quoted in Law360 saying demographic reporting has become embedded in many companies’ internal management and diversity practices, regardless of whether the federal government mandates it. Manuel characterized the proposed elimination of workplace demographic reporting requirements as less dramatic than it may initially appear.

Manuel acknowledged that employers would likely welcome relief from the administrative burden of filing EEOC paperwork, but he emphasized that many companies already view workforce demographic tracking as valuable beyond federal compliance requirements.

"It made employers look at themselves and think they could do better, so it is a good self-reflection tool," Manuel said. "You've got a lot of companies that still do that anyway, so I don't know that it will be that big of a change."
